Native FITS and XISF Image file support for macOS is here!
AstroImageToolkit v1.0 is a view application, with the ability to export Calibrated Astrophotography images as HDR HEIC or HDR JPEG images. PNG export is also provided for wide ranging compatibility.
Full Integration into macOS
When installed, you can review all of the details of your files. You can select “Get Info” on any of your FITS or XISF files, to learn more about the contents of your image. GPS location, camera temperature, Gain, Offset, etc. are easily available.
You no longer need to continuously open your FITS or XISF files, to see what they are. The Finder will now supply thumbnails and Preview imagery.
Calibration Frame Support!
If you already have Master Bias and Master Dark frames from your shoot, the Astro Image Toolkit will use these files to improve the image performance of the data. Just point the app to your calibration frames, and the app will generate a master file, for you.
Simply open any FITS or XISF file, and the app will match the appropriate master to the image. What you seen in the AstroImageToolkit, will be the best result possible with your existing calibration data.
Preview and Export
The Astro Image Toolkit provides a simple Histogram Stretch. Ideal for a quick review of your camera output. Easily export FITS or XISF imagery to a more conventional JPEG file, for publishing on Social Media or website.
An experimental feature is included!
If you want a bit more “Pop” you can also enable “HDR” support. It will be exciting to see what people do with this export feature!
